While many high-end boutiques are experiencing a severe downturn, L.A.'s "luxury erotic emporium" Coco de Mer is busier than ever, with an increasing quotient of sex-starved celebs. The Melrose Avenue shop sells a wide range of goods including lingerie, books, oils, housewares and luxurious sex toys and accessories, including a $10,000 14kt gold and diamond vibrator. Angelina Jolie was spotted shopping there just the other day (though we don't know what she splurged on). Other celebs including Madonna, Kate Moss, Salma Hayek and Sienna Miller have also been by to pick up something saucy for, ahem, entertaining at home.
The shop is owned by Justine and Sam Roddick, daughters of Body Shop founder Anita Roddick, who opened the original Coco de Mer in London in 2001. The shop's clever, opulent design features a "Confessional" room attached to the dressing room providing a private view of your partner trying on lingerie. All of their products are made in consideration of the environment and human rights, and their policy is to invest in the work of local talent as well as small Fair Trade projects or cottage industries. The Roddicks are "committed to enabling individuals to use sex as an instrument to transform their own existence." -

April 7th, 2009UncategorizedAn indoor rock climbing competition is a competition designed to test the skills and agility of a rock climber. Other things tested in a rock climbing competition are one's speed and accuracy when it comes to climbing up the rock wall. There are basic rules for an indoor rock climbing competition which need to be observed as well as followed.
Rules Of The Game
Since an indoor rock climbing competition bases its wins on the speed of the individual going up the wall, there are not so many rules to follow regarding how an individual can win. The more strident rules regarding an indoor rock climbing competition may have something to do with safety rules and regulations among others.
Depending on the level of expertise that an individual has for rock climbing, the rules are varied. Basic rules for indoor rock climbing competitions may depend on the indoor rock climbing gym that the competition is to be held or on the organizers rules of rock climbing. Safety rules are the priority since the object of the competition is to finish the course by reaching the top first.
Some of the safety rules have some thing to do with what the rock climber needs to wear. The right kind of shoes is necessary to enter the competition, climbing shoes or appropriate tennis shoes. Bare feet are discouraged as well as shoes that may come off easily. The clothes of the individual should not be loose enough to interfere with the progress of the belaying rope or any other safety rope that is attached to the climber, during an indoor rock climbing competition or any other day. Jewelry and other accessories that may interfere with the individual's actions are also prohibited. The hair of the climber should also be tied back whether during an indoor rock climbing competition or any other event during which the climber is going through a course.
The belayer and the climber should have an understanding regarding how each works, which means that it may be best to have a belayer who has worked with the individual previously to be bale to be familiar with the style of the climber. Other rules for a belayer in an indoor rock climbing competition have something to do with the belayer anchoring himself with both feet on the ground, both the climber and the belayer checking each other before the indoor rock climbing competition takes place and that the belayer must be certified before staying in the event.

April 4th, 2009UncategorizedBuying camp stoves is not live buying a car or a house where you need to really exhaust all possible options before you settle for a particular house or car. No, this does not mean that you can just go to the store and buy the first camp stove that you see on the shelves. This just simply means that you do not need to spend a week or a month mulling over which camp stove is better than the other. To help you buy the right camp stove as fast as possible, here are some tips for you.
Consider The Size And The Weight
Size and weight are two of the biggest considerations that you need to take before you buy a camp stove. Remember that when you go camping, you need to travel light especially when you travel on foot. Even the slightest weight on your back could feel like a ton when you are going uphill. If you do not want to end up spraining your back under the weight of your backpack, you better make sure that you pack light. Ideally, your backpack should not weight more than 10 percent of you body weight. This means that you have to bring only the most essential and the lightest things possible. To make your life easier on the hiking trail, buy a camp stove that weight around 15 ounces. This weight should include the fuel already. You can easily find light weight coleman camp stoves in your favorite malls and outdoors shops.
Think Of The Size
When it comes to camp stoves, size is almost as important at weight. Carrying bulky things on your back is not a good idea even if such bulky things are not so heavy. It will be difficult for you to negotiate narrow trails if you have a huge pack on your back. For your convenience, you should limit the size of your pack to fit the size of your body. This means that you need to carry compact things like those fold down stoves that you can easily stuff inside your backpack.
Think Of The Price
The price of the camp stove is very important. In this time of economic slump you cannot afford to waste a single cent of your hard earned money. To make sure that you get the best value for your money, you need to shop around first and compare the prices of the different types of camp stoves before you buy one.

Amanda Lepore, the glamorous transsexual bombshell who has worked with MAC Cosmetics and walked the runway for Heatherette has joined the celebrity fragrance bandwagon with a rather expensive offering. Lepore's scent is from Artware Editions and was designed by perfumer Christophe Laudamiel of Les Christophs.
The scent includes notes of Tuberose absolute, orris butter, violet and a touch of Cristal champagne. It comes in a disco-ball-shaped bottle wreathed in Swarovski crystals in a black satin coffret with a pink satin atomizer and a booklet full of photographs of Amanda. The fragrance is a limited edition of 5,000 bottles.
NY Times reporter Eric Wilson didn't seem entirely smitten with the fragrance saying that it "Amanda is supposed to be art, as opposed to, say, the weirdest celebrity fragrance ever." It doesn't seem like that much of a stretch to me, everyone from jazz musicians to race car drivers seems to have their own scent these days. But the $950 price point puts it out of the range of many shoppers. Whether or not there are 5,000 people interested in smelling like Ms. Lepore is another matter. -
April 1st, 2009UncategorizedThere are lots of different items that you could pack along when it comes to river rafting gear. Whether you decide to get it all new or just settle with used rafting gear, the most important thing is that you know which pieces are the most essential and which you are going to want to work on getting first if you are just a beginner here.
Day Gear
There are a few very important pieces of river rafting gear for the day that you are going to want to bring along on your trip. A wetsuit, splash jacket, swimming suit, booties, and sunglasses with securing strap are all very important. Depending on how sunny the day is that you are going rafting on, you may not need to wear sunglasses if you don't want to, but on sunny days they will help keep the glare out of your eyes so you can see where you are going.
A waterproof sunscreen is helpful, because of course you do not want to get burnt. You may also want to bring a beverage along such as water or juice in case you get thirsty. Keep in mind that if you are going on a whitewater rafting trip with a company, you will probably get a guide who will come with you, help make sure that you get where you need to go, and provide you with meals and beverages.
Camp Gear
If you are planning to stay somewhere overnight so you can go rafting again in the morning, you are going to need the proper river rafting gear to get you through the night. A warm sleeping bag is one of the most important pieces of gear here, and these are usually available to rent through a rafting company if you don't want to purchase one yourself.
You will need toiletries, a headlamp or flashlight so you can see where you are going in the dark, a change of clothes and small towel, dry shoes for camp, rain jacket or poncho, plastic bag to hold your wet clothes, and your favorite book if you like, for something to do if you can't fall asleep at night.
Make sure that you find out what the company provides that you are going through for the trip, because there may be certain things that you will already have provided for you.
All of this river rafting gear will be very important for you to bring along, and will ensure your safety and also that you enjoy yourself on the trip.
